A deposition transcript is often confidential. This page says in plain terms what happens to a file when you use DepoScript. It describes how the service is built to work. It is not a promise about any other tool you may use, and it is not legal advice.
Your transcript
- Files are processed in memory and deleted after conversion. DepoScript keeps no copy of a transcript once it has been converted.
- The converted text is sent back to your browser. The formatting you see, including a change of output format or an option, is done in your browser and does not upload the file again.
- Uploads are not used to train models.
- The text of a transcript is not written to any log by this site's own code.
Pages that need a second look
When a page is hard to read, the converter may send that page to Google's Gemini API as a vision check. Under Google's terms, what Google receives can be retained for up to 55 days. If a transcript must not go to a service operated by Google, do not upload it here.
Sub-processors
| Who | For what |
|---|---|
| Modal | Compute: the service that reads the PDF. |
| The vision check described above. | |
| Cloudflare | Hosting and delivery of this site, and of the function that passes your file on. |
| PayPal | Payment for the paid plans. PayPal handles the payment details under its own terms. |
What this site keeps in your browser
A random identifier, kept in your browser's local storage, which is sent with each conversion so the free allowance (1 file per day, up to 10 pages, no account) can be counted per device. If you save a page code, it is kept there too and is sent with each conversion, so the converter can spend it when the free allowance does not cover the file. You can remove it from the page code box at any time. Nothing from a transcript is kept in your browser by DepoScript. Your IP address is also passed to the converter so that the allowance is counted for you and not for everyone who shares a network.
This site runs no analytics and no advertising scripts. The site's fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, so your browser makes a request to Google's font servers when a page loads. Cloudflare, which hosts the site, processes requests and may keep its usual operational logs.
Protective orders and privilege
DepoScript is software. It does not review a transcript for privilege or work-product protection, does not check it against a protective order or a confidentiality designation, and does not promise that sending a document to it preserves or waives any privilege or protection. Whether a given transcript may be uploaded to an outside service is for you and your supervising attorney to decide. This service is not a substitute for that review.
Using the output with other tools
What happens to text you paste into another tool, including an AI assistant, is governed by that tool's terms and not by this page. See Summarising a deposition with AI before you do.
Payments
Paid plans are monthly subscriptions paid through PayPal, which handles the payment details under its own terms; DepoScript does not see your card or bank details. After a payment, your page code (and each renewal's top-up) is emailed to the address used at checkout, from [email protected]. The code is kept in your browser as described above.
